What does an average Dutchman when it is 6 degrees below freezing point? Of all the options, a night camping in the woods with the kids is probably not in the top 10..
But we did and turned our “camping with the men” trip into a camping trip with the kids. Both Tom and I took our eldest on their first official camping trip. The kids didn’t notice the cold at all (the old men did) and although the fathers worried too much, we had a blast..
Some hints: small tents work better than big ones. Triple sleeping bags work great! And a picnic carpet or survival blanket works great to keep the cold coming from the floor… and keep the fire going, the tea (or beers) flowing and the kids busy. 🙂
